Baby Clothes Care

Yes it is true that baby clothes don't last long with kids growing as fast as they do, but taking care of a babies clothes is still just as, if not more, important. One of the major reasons proper clothing care is so imperative is to protect an infant's skin from irritating substances. Because the household use of many different chemicals has increased in modern society, the sensitivity of human skin has increased, and babies have the most sensitive skin of all. A parent must be sensitive to any foods or substances that their children have allergies or intolerance to. In other ways, caring for children and infant's clothing is similar to adult clothing, but on a much smaller scale.

Powerful detergents are unnecessary even for adults, so it makes sense to buy one detergent that will work for the whole family. By using a mild detergent, all of the clothes will come out just as clean, but without the abundance of irritating substances that can cause problems for a baby's skin. In some circumstances it is better refrain from the use of any detergents at all. Instead soap for sensitive skin and hot water will get clothes clean, but will take more time. There are some "baby" detergents that are marketed to the young parent market as detergents that are better for babies' skin, but there is no real difference from these and other mild detergents. Baby detergents are only another way of marketing to the kid retail industry. When purchasing a mild detergent, parents should look for a substance with no added fragrances or colors.

Once the clothes are washed, drying them as directed should be fine without the use of a fabric softener. The best way to dry infant clothing is on a clothesline, but they should hang in an enclosed area that is not in contact with pollen or insects. It is important for the clothes to be completely dry before they are put away or worn by a child, and hanging the clothes on childrens clothes hangers will help keep their form. Baby clothes hangers and childrens hangers are an important part of clothing storage for kids because small garments tend to gather and lose their form more easily.

New clothes should always be washed before worn. Just like new clothes can be stiff and irritating to adults, new clothes are even worse for infants and small children. The same is true for any type of hand-me-downs. Dust mites and other irritating things can gather on any type of clothing that has been in storage.

Extra care should be taken in any circumstance involving an infant, and clothing care is only one of them. By following these few tips, skin irritation and other problems will be one less thing to worry about, and kids' clothes will stay looking good.

Baby clothes tips: Guide To Buying The Right Clothes For Your Kids

Parents take great pleasure in dressing their children in beautiful clothing. Gone are the days when girls were dressed in pink or white dresses and boys in blue or navy pants and tops. While these tones remain popular it’s now possible to experiment with a range of colors and outfits so your child can have a unique style that matches their personality. Girly girls love swishy pettiskirts and pretty party dresses while ‘tomboys’ love jeans or skirts and leggings. Animal prints are popular with both girls and boys as they often remind them of the characters that frequent their story books.

However, there is now such a plethora of choice that parents can sometimes become over-whelmed and end up selecting clothes that look gorgeous but aren’t suitable for their child’s needs. While it’s tempting to buy your daughter several pretty party dresses, they are not very practical for climbing on playground equipment. And if all her friends are dressed in pants and tees your daughter may feel out of place and no enjoy her pretty dress as much as you’d hoped.

When you go shopping for kid’s clothing make sure you have a properly planned budget and stick to it. Don’t forget to include accessories such as socks, stockings, hats and shoes in your budget. Work out what you need, such as clothing to wear around home, at daycare, kinder or school as well as an outfit or outfits for special occasions. For girls leggings, above knee skirts or dresses — which can be teamed with leggings or stockings if needed — shorts, and pants allow the freedom of movement needed to play, climb and run with their friends. For boys, shorts or pants and overalls are always popular.

The key to putting together striking outfits without a high cost is to choose one good piece and team it with a more basic, low-cost item. For example, a beautiful floral summer skirt can be worn with a high-quality singlet, which usually costs under $10, which is able to double as a tank top. In winter, you could use a simple, plain colored skivvy.

With a bit of creativity you use also transform a plain top into something that will really stand out from the crowd. We’ve discovered it’s very easy to find an iron on motif at a craft shop to match a lovely skirt or fancy shorts. For example, a purple sequined butterfly to match a purple floral skirt or a beach motif to match back with trendy board shorts. These motifs transform a simple singlet, tee shirt or skivvy into a unique top that teams perfectly with the skirt or pants. Alternatively, you can prefer to buy a beautiful or stylish top with a more basic denim skirt or pant.

By following this approach it can be quite easy to stay within budget for day-to-day clothing. You may even find you come under budget, which enable you to spend more on special occasion’s outfits. For everyday kid’s clothing cotton is best. Organic cotton clothing is becoming increasingly popular as parents seek to reduce their children’s exposure to chemicals. Organic cotton is grown, spun and dyed without the use of chemicals, which is not only safer for children but better for the environment and the farmers who grow the cotton. For special occasions, man-made fibers such as taffeta or chiffon are often used to provide the dazzle required. Just make sure the outfit is comfortable — a large, stiff bow around the neck may look superb but it’s likely to irritate your little girl.

With a plethora of kid’s clothing stores available online, making the right choice has never been easier. There is a wide range of children’s clothes available. All you need to do is to place the orders, make the online payment and your child’s lovely new clothes will be on their way to you.

Buy quality baby clothes and save money

Every parent wishes to buy new clothes for the baby and they try to spend more for baby wear. You should choose baby clothes depending on the age of your baby and the utility. Babies always grow and spending a lot of money for small babies is not advisable. You may have a few clothes that are trendy and beautiful, but convenience must be the first criteria of consideration when you choose baby clothes. At any point of time, you should not compromise quality for price when you are shopping for baby goods. The clothes you choose may not be trendy, but they must be comfortable for the baby to wear.

You must start baby wear shopping earlier even before your baby attains that growth. This will help you plan ahead and shop leisurely for your baby. You can use the internet to find online stores selling baby clothes. These websites introduce you to several discounts and you can avail them during season times. Instead of buying clothes that fit perfectly for your baby, you can look for a larger size.

Your baby will soon grow and the perfect sized outfit may become small within a few months. When you buy larger sizes, make sure that they are not too large. Socks are very essential for your babies and you need to keep your babies warm. You can buy single piece outfits that can be worn easily. As new born babies sleep most of the times, you can find pajamas for them.

You have to choose baby clothes depending on the age of the baby at the time of wearing the dress. You can start summer shopping during winter, but remember the age of the baby when summer sets in. Buying summer clothing with the size of your baby during winter will never work out for you. When summer arises, your baby may outgrow the size, leading you to buy more. While choosing clothes for babies, choose clothes that have back or front openings. If you have to wear the dress over the head, you will have to face crying babies. Instead of buttons, go for Velcro fastenings that don't irritate your babies.

You should buy baby clothes made of a comfortable, breathing fabric. Buying dresses with more embellishments is not suitable when you buy them for your babies. Always remember that your baby looks cute in whatever he or she wears. There is no need to buy cozy and delicate fabric because your baby will not be comfortable with such clothes. More than looks, you have to concentrate on buying clothes that are more suitable for you baby. However, you can buy fancy and trendy clothes for dressing up your babies when you go out.

Many people are now interested in buying organic baby clothes. These clothes are made of organic materials and they don't contain any chemicals. Even though these types of clothes are generally costlier, you can find great deals when you buy such clothes from discount sales. The sensitive skin of your baby must be protected from chemicals and dyes commonly found in normal baby wear.

Kids who get spanked may have lower IQs

I came across an article on WebMD recently which I think worth sharing with other parents. The article was titled Kids Who Get Spanked May Have Lower IQs.

The artikel is about a study done on IQ performance of children who are spanked and those who are not. The study shows lower IQ score for those children who are spanked. Though the difference may not seems to be very wide, that is 5 score difference in younger children and 2.8 in older children, it is enough to show the negative effect of spanking our children. IQ is affected by many factors, and this is one of the factors that we, the parents, have control on.

Though there are argument on the result of the study, and effect of spanking on children's IQ may be relatively new, the effect of spanking on children's negative behaviour is widely accepted.

Laundering Baby's Clothes - 3 Excellent Tips

As a new parent, all things enter your mind when it comes to your newborn. Is the outfit warm enough; is he or she getting enough formula or breast milk; what kind of diapers should I buy; will I be a good enough parent?
Eventually, parents will start to question if the baby's clothes should be separated from everyone else's and if they should use their own powder/liquid when it comes to washing clothes. As for the concern, there are some valid points but it breaks down into three subjects areas of concern.

    Detergent -
As adults, we know that certain detergents will cause us to break out while others won't. The same thing goes for a newborn but even more so. It is possible that your child could be allergic to the type of detergent you use for everyone else's clothes. Their skin is much newer, of course, making it much more sensitive and tender because they have not been exposed to all the things adults have.
There are numerous detergents aimed at baby garments but there is not that much of a difference from them and other gentle detergents. The best one to use would be one that is fragrance free and added colors.
Should the baby develop a rash or is experiencing some sort of discomfort of the skin, then it would be wise to consult your child's pediatrician. Only they can determine if it's the detergent that is causing the problem or something even more serious. If it is determined it is the detergent, they will more than likely suggest using another mild one.

Baby Clothes vs. Family Clothes -
Are you the type of parents who separates their baby's clothes from the rest of the relatives or are you the type to not really care and just throw them altogether. For those parents who don't wash them all together, keeping them split is not really necessary. The tainting or contaminating of the baby's clothes from everyone else's is nothing to be worried about. This is not true.
The only exclusion to this is cloth diapers. Unless the family uses a diaper service, washing those diapers independently is very important because of the constant peeing and pooping on them.

    Cloth Diapers -
A distant thing of recent past, cloth diapers is being replaced by more convenient disposables ones. Yet, for the families who decide on using clothes diapers, there are some considerations that must be factored in.
It is more sanitary to use a diaper service rather than washing at home. Plus this frees up your washer machine for other clothes and keeps the diapers germ-free coming back from the service.
However, should you choose to wash them at home, remember that the diapers need to be cleaned alone from other clothes. Storing the dirty diapers until laundry day should be made sanitary too. This means, wash the diaper in the bathroom toilet to eliminate solid defecate (poop) then store it in a pail pending time to wash. This pail will need to be lined with a bag and be covered to avoid odors. To make things easier, wash the pail when you wash those cloth diapers. These should be washed twice a week.

Baby Clothes: 7 Money Saving Shopping Tips for New Parents by Wanda Lam

Perhaps the biggest problem with baby clothes is that they don't last. Not because they wear out, but because your baby quickly out grows them.
It's important to plan your baby clothes shopping around the growth of your baby. If you don't, you could be wasting money.

Keep in mind these seven tips while you plan your baby clothes shopping:

  1. Wear a Larger Size
People say babies grow fast, and they're right about that. You'll be wasting money if you buy perfect fitting clothes because they'll soon be too small. Buying a larger size will extend the amount of time your baby can wear them.
  2. Make a Weather Prediction
Stop and think for a moment about clothes labels that state size in terms of a baby's age, such as 12 or 18 months. Then ask this question: "When my baby is X months old, what will the weather or temperature be like?" Get the answer to this question correct and you'll buy clothes that not only fit, but also will be appropriate for the season.
  3. Find Easy To Put On Outfits
Sometimes you'll struggle to dress your baby into an outfit you want him to wear. Outfits that come in several pieces, button from behind or pull over the head may require more of your patience and time. Outfits that come in one piece, open in the front, have zippers, or snap buttons should be easier to deal with.
  4. Have Enough for Emergencies
Food can drop on your baby's clothes while you're feeding him. If your baby becomes sick, he might throw-up on his outfit. When a messy accident occurs, you'll need a clean set of clothes ready for your baby to wear.
  5. Save at The Clearance Racks
You can save a bundle at the clearance racks. Almost every type of store has these. In addition, if you wait for a big sale you can save even more. Some stores will also markdown the clearance item further at the cash register.
  6. Accept Hand Me Downs
Your family and friends may want to give you their children's baby clothes. They may have new clothes that their baby didn't have a chance to wear. If you decide to accept what they are willing to give, you'll save yourself some money, especially if they have clothing you would have bought.
  7. Exchange Old Clothes for Cash
Sell the clothes your baby no longer fits into on eBay. eBay is just an example. There are many other ways to trade your old clothes for cash. You may not make as much as you had originally paid for them, however, you'll at least earn some of your money back.

Summary
If getting the most use out of the clothes you buy for your child is important to you, then the seven tips in this article should help you accomplish this. Take these ideas with you the next time you go baby clothes shopping. You'll feel good about the clothes you buy for your baby and the money you're going to save.
